New Curate
Ella Harris will be our new curate from September 2022.
She will be licensed to the Team but will focus her ministry jointly on the
Cam Villages Churches and St Mary's, Saffron Walden. Jeremy Trew and Alex Jeewan will be her joint training incumbents. Ella is expected to take up the appointment after her ordination as deacon in September 2022. Prior to that, during the summer, she expects to serve as a licensed lay worker in the Team.
This is welcome news!
An Introduction from Ella
I’ve been asked to introduce myself, so here goes. Originally from Widdington in Essex, I now live in Cambridge with my husband Toby. I’m currently completing my ordination training at Ridley Hall. God willing, I will be ordained deacon in September 2022. Toby previously consulted for engineering projects in London, and is now completing his Engineering Masters in Cambridge. We know and love Saffron Walden and the surrounding area well, having both gone to primary school here. We’re so glad to be returning to such a vibrant town, and I’m excited to get to know you and all the beautiful churches that you worship in.
I’ve worshipped and ministered in a range of churches, from multi-parish rural benefices, city-centre student churches, to fresh-expressions on housing estates, who met in school halls. My first degree was in archaeology and anthropology and I have a deep interest in the diversity of human cultures, be that ancient or modern. I’m a keen musician, playing cello and orchestral percussion, and I’m never happier than when I’m in the countryside and around nature.
We’re really looking forward to moving to the area in June, and living and serving alongside you all.
