Plans for accessible toilet and servery at Wendens Ambo has been approved by the DAC
The accessible toilet and servery project at Wendens Ambo has been approved by the DAC.
The Parochial Church Council is working on grant applications and fundraising with the hope that work will start in the spring.
Wendens Ambo church is Grade 1 listed so the project has required a lot of consultation to satisfy all the bodies that advise on matters that affect ancient churches. Fortunately, working with our church architect, Sibyl Thomas, the PCC has been able to find the perfect location within the existing church. The accessible toilet will be in the western end of the north aisle where there is a storage area behind a curtain at present. The servery will be tucked in between the toilet and the Millennium window with a hatch opening into the north aisle. Some pews will be removed but many will remain. Seating for the servery will be pews--one against the wall and one facing the hatchway.
